Board Vacancies
Algoma Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Centre is a two faceted agency. Breton House offers a residential setting for women practicing abstinence, and addiction counselling. A New Link offers day programs to women who are trying to reduce their dependency. The ASARC Board of Directors works with and supports staff of both settings, to ensure program needs are met through decision-making and advocacy for the benefit of those living with Substance dependencies in our region. Any interested member of the public, 18 years and older, can apply. We are looking for candidates that are energetic and skilled in a variety of ways to add to an already strong team. This is a volunteer position.
Commitment:
- Meet at least 9 times a year the 3rd Thursday of every month from September to June at noon for approximately 1 hour. Hybrid meetings are held In-person are held at the New Link office located at 126 Queen St. E, Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, and by Zoom.
- Sit on one or more committees of the Board.
- Participate in various ASARC events during the year.
- Serve a two-year term.
Qualifications:
We are looking for individuals who have experience in some of the following fields and as such can provide insight and guidance to the board.
- Interest in / passion for substance abuse reduction services
- Marketing/social media/ public relations experience
- Program planning and evaluation of program
- Development of strategic plans
- Finance
- Fundraising
- Human Resources
